Updated: 6 days ago

Car park behind the main shopping area at Doddington

Visited 2 April 2024

Doddington Hall, Doddington, near Lincoln.

Enjoyed a trip around the Doddington Hall's shops, eateries and exhibition spaces. Not all shops visited during this trip.

Car Park - used the car park directly outside main shop. Four official disabled parking bays placed near the entrance. The fine gravel and can easily negotiated in a wheelchair. There are two other car parks. The one on the other side of the main village road is in a field and not recommended for those with mobility conditions. At the back of the retail complex there is a large carpark which is mainly fine gravel and slightly uneven, but can be negotiated with mobility aids.

Outside paths - various surfaces such as medium and fine gravel, paving stones and tarmac.

Doorways - most doorways had thresholds which were easy to move over. A majority of the doors needed to be opened or be held open. There were no automatic doors were used in the visit.

Ease of movement - visited during the Easter holidays so the place was busy. Despite this, generally access was good.

Sound - mainly people talking, no loud sounds and no music in the areas visited.

The Stables Gallery - viewed exhibition by Lincolnshire Artists' Society. Good entrance access and an even floor. Generous space around exhibits and paintings.

Farm Shop - even stone floor, one level throughout and wide aisles.

Farm Shop Cafe - Helpful staff. Enough gangway between tables for wheelchair access. Only downside, several of the cakes were no longer available on our visit.

Grain Store Restaurant - briefly visited to use toilets, even floor and good gangway space between tables. Lift available to upstairs section. The entrance lobby has two doorways to negotiate.

Toilet - at the time of the visit, the main toilet block was being refitted and could not be accessed. This will have a disabled toilet. We were directed to the toilet in the Grain Store restaurant which, although not large, was well equipped.

Colours - variety of colours, mostly gentle, neutral shades.

Floor surface inside - even surfaces inside and at one level.

Signage - clear and visible. No floor signage.

Dogs - assistance dogs accepted.
