Hub Sleaford is an art centre with a exhibition space, cafe, shop, studio and offices. The environment, lighting and sound in the first floor exhibition space will change to reflect the requirements of the exhibition on show at that time.
Car Park - Hub located by large public car park. Disability parking is free and three bays were seen when visited. The surface is uneven tarmac, however there is a long, even brick path leading to Hub from the car park.
Toilets - two disabled toilets on the ground floor. The one used was well equipped. Radar key not required.
Cafe - on ground floor, with dining tables or coffee tables to sit at. Orders are made at the counter. Hot chocolate and cake was ordered and very much enjoyed! Some hot savoury dishes were on the menu too.
Shop - the array of art items, books and gifts on sale are easily accessed.
Pathways Outside - there are wheelchair friendly paths all around the outside of the Hub building which sides on to the River Slea.
Ease of movement in the building - the ground floor is open plan with wide areas round disks, shop displays and the cafe. As well as the stairs there is a large lift to the other floors. The first floor is the exhibition space which is also open plan with spacious pathways between exhibits.
Lighting - lighting on the ground floor is at a good level, bright with large windows. The 1st floor exhibition space had subdued lighting but still at a good visibility level There were no flashing lights. The 1st floor lighting may change depending on the exhibition showing.
Sound - there were no loud noises. The ground floor had background music, mainly pop music, some instrumentals. The was no sounds accompanying the exhibition on the day of the visit.
Atmosphere - not overwhelming, the Hub had a mellow atmosphere.
Colours - the ground floor the colours were not bright, no eyesores. The colours for the exhibition at the time of visit, was red throughout.
Signage and Information Boards - the signage was good and clear.
Doorways - the main entrance doors are automatic. Other doors had handles or push buttons. Most door thresholds were wheeled over without difficulty, one or two had ridges which could be passed over without much effort.
Access Dogs - access dogs are accepted in all areas. Pets are allowed on the ground floor, however if wishing to visit with a pet, it's advisable contact with the Hub before your visit.
Staff - were friendly and helpful.
